The Samaritans self-help mobile app has been developed to make it easier to find and use techniques to help you cope with difficult feelings, and to support you to stay safe in a crisis using your phone.

There is no need to set up an account when using this app. When you start to use this app, we’d recommend setting up your safety plan or finding a technique to try.

If you are looking for emotional support, please give our helpline a call on 116 123 or visit our Contact a Samaritan page (https://www.samaritans.org/how-we-can-help/contact-samaritan/) for more ways to get in touch. Samaritans is here round the clock if you need someone to talk to. Let us know if you find something that you think isnt working properly, or if youd like to suggest new content or a feature via our Feedback Forms (https://www.samaritans.org/feedback/report-an-issue-with-the-samaritans-self-help-mobile-app/).

Techniques: The app can help you learn safe, memorable techniques for coping with things that are troubling you. Finding what helps you in certain situations or with specific feelings is important as different things help different people and, depending on your mood, techniques can have a different impact. Once you have accessed a technique online once, you can complete it without internet access.

Safety plan: A safety plan is a tool for helping someone navigate difficult feelings and urges. This app can help you make a plan to stay safe in a crisis, including people you can call, images of hope, warning signs and things you can do to keep yourself safe.

Privacy: Everything you input into this app is stored on your device, nothing is shared with Samaritans or the app developers. You can delete all your data from the apps settings menu. In settings you will also find information on the Samaritans privacy statement and how to provide feedback or suggest new features.

Self-help Online: For more techniques, a mood tracker and activities check out the web application at https://selfhelp.samaritans.org - an account and internet access are required.
